VPN Access
Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) provide a secure connection to another network over the Internet. They can protect your web traffic from snooping, interference, and censorship.
Some best practices for VPN Access:
- Use Strong Encryption: Always use a VPN that offers strong encryption to protect your data from being intercepted. Firewall based VPN’s or access based VPN’s can be provided from different VPN providers from your internal zones. P2P VPN-keys should be kept secret and usage of IKE-V2 or higher is strongly recommended. Change these keys in a regular interval.
- Secure Authentication: Use multi-factor authentication for accessing the VPN to add an extra layer of security.
- Choose a Reliable VPN Provider: Not all VPNs are created equal. Choose a VPN provider that is reputable and trustworthy.
- Keep Your VPN Software Up to Date: Regularly update your VPN software to ensure you have the latest security patches and updates.
- Disconnect When Not in Use: Disconnect from the VPN when you’re not using it to reduce the potential attack surface.
- Avoid Using Public Wi-Fi: When possible, avoid using public Wi-Fi networks when connecting to your VPN. These networks can be insecure and expose your data to potential attackers.
Using a VPN can significantly enhance your online privacy and security where you would be able to use PAM in conjunction to know who is accessing and changing which configurations, even with a CM service, but it’s important to use it correctly to maximize its benefits.
